There is a famous book by the same title which you may have read but you will find that if you don’t sweat the small stuff you will lead a far happier life than if you let everything worry you.
As an example, you may come up against a rude person in your place of work who says something to you that you find quite hurtful, instead of just letting it go you may end up thinking about it for the rest of the day. Then, if another problem arises it will seem even worse to you because you are in that negative frame of mind.
The result of this mindset is that your whole day will turn in a negative experience. All because of a comment from someone who has probably not given their initial comment to you another thought since they said it.
The same thing applies to what you do and say yourself, if you are rude or hurtful to someone you may not give it much thought but your actions really could ruin someone’s day and that is the last thing you’d want to do, isn’t it?
You will find that if you can get used to not worrying about the small stuff, and it could be argued that so many of the problems in your life is actually small stuff, you will find that you will be able to concentrate on the joys of life and the exciting times that await you.
So many people are consumed with their problems but the ironic thing is that if they traced back to why they are feeling the way that they do, it could very well have started with something small that they took to heart and which has gone on to escalate from there.
It is not uncommon for someone to be in such a negative state of mind that even something so minor such as stubbing their toe on the floor when they get out of bed or getting some toothpaste on their shirt when they brush their teeth in the morning can basically ruin their day. They don’t realise it at the time but just focussing on how annoyed they are when something like this happens can send them on a downward spiral throughout the day.
This is such a shame because if they had just taken a deep breath, smiled to themselves, realised that it was not really such a big deal after all, their day would have turned out to be completely different.
