Random Acts Of Kindness

Now I know that you will probably think I have gone a little bit mad with what I am going to talk about today but if you bear with me and keep an open mind I am sure you will find it interesting.

I can remember being with my dad when I was younger when we were queuing up in the supermarket. There was an old lady behind us who was buying some dog food and she was carefully counting the money from her purse to pay for it. She didn’t look like she had much money and when my dad came to pay for our groceries he gave the shop assistant another 10 dollars and said he would pay for the old lady’s dog food.

The Horror Film In Your Head

I can remember once talking to an NLP practitioner who told me that he couldn’t understand why people pay good money to go to the cinema to see a horror film when they can watch the horror film that is going on in their head without paying anything.

That really struck a chord with me and made me smile because it is so true. So many people let their imagination get completely carried away and they picture all sorts of horrible things happening to them which can be far worse than any horror film.

Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff

There is a famous book by the same title which you may have read but you will find that if you don’t sweat the small stuff you will lead a far happier life than if you let everything worry you.

As an example, you may come up against a rude person in your place of work who says something to you that you find quite hurtful, instead of just letting it go you may end up thinking about it for the rest of the day. Then, if another problem arises it will seem even worse to you because you are in that negative frame of mind.
